'La Liseuse’ is a 19th century pastel portrait attributed to the French Impressionist painter Eva Gonzalès (1847-1885). It is presented in fine, period water gilded frame.

The portrait comes directly from the deceased estate of a French art dealer and has long been thought to be a work by Gonzalés. It was purchased by him in Rome in the 1980s from a collector who, in lieu of payment, requested that a donation be made to the Pasteur Institute of Paris.

Academy Fine Paintings only offers artwork for sale in the finest condition it can be for its age. Clients should also note that tracked and signed for international shipping is complimentary.
