Soap Bubbles

  • Additional Information

‘Soap Bubbles’ by Delphin Enjolras (1857-1945).

The picture – which depicts a young Belle Epoque beauty lit by lamplight – is in pastels and is signed by the artist. It is displayed behind newly installed non-reflective UV resistant Museum Glass© and in a fine quality gold metal leaf frame.

Delphin Enjolras studied under Jean-Léon Gérôme at the École des Beaux-Arts and began exhibiting at the Salon in Paris in 1890. He became famous for his portraits of elegant young society beauties lit by a single light source, usually a bedside lamp or fireside. Enjolras was elected a member of the Société des Artistes Français  in 1901.
