‘Moel Siabod’ by James Peel RBA (1811-1906). The painting is signed by the artist and dated 1869, in which year it was exhibited at the Royal Society of British Artists in London.

 

As with all of the original antique oil paintings we sell it is offered in excellent condition, having been professionally cleaned and re-varnished. Clients should also note that tracked and signed for international shipping is complimentary.

 

Overlooking the famous Welsh villages of Betws-y-Coed and Capel Curig in Snowdonia, Moel Siabod is the highest peak in the Moelwynion mountain range.

 

Between 1843 and 1888 James Peel exhibited 69 paintings at the Royal Academy, 37 at the British Institution, and 248 with the Royal Society of British Artists. With his friends Ford Madox Brown and William Bell Scott he was an organiser of the National Institution of Fine Arts free exhibitions held at both the Portland and Dudley Galleries. James Peel was elected a full member of the Royal Society of British Artists in 1861.
