Edward Henry Niemann was the son of the famous Anglo-German romantic artist Edmund John Niemann, and like his father painted extensive landscapes often featuring the River Thames or the iconic rivers and peaks of the Yorkshire Dales. Edward H. Niemann enjoyed significant success as a landscape painter throughout the final quarter of the 19th century and exhibited at the British Institution in London.
