This is a fine mid-19th century landscape oil on canvas of a herd of cattle being lead through an extensive English landscape with ancient ruins to the background by the celebrated British artist, Anthony Vandyke Copley Fielding (1787-1955).
This beautiful 169 year old oil painting is signed by the artist, and dated 1846. It is signed again to the stretcher, verso.
Anthony Vandyke Copley Fielding was one of the most celebrated painters of the first half of the 19th century. He exhibited 17 times at the Royal Academy and won a gold medal at the Paris Salon in 1824 alongside Richard Parkes Bonington and John Constable. Copley Fielding was a painter of great elegance and skill and has always been highly popular with international collectors.
