This is a large fine 19th century landscape oil on canvas depicting a spectacular evening sunset ‘On the River Tay’ in the Highlands of Scotland by the celebrated English landscape artist, Alfred de Bréanski Jnr. (1877-1945). The painting is signed by the artist and hangs in a late 19th century Baroque gilt frame.
As with all of the original antique oil paintings we sell it is offered in the very finest condition it can be for its age, having just been professionally cleaned and re-varnished.
Like his famous artist father Alfred de Bréanski Sr, Alfred de Bréanski Jnr (or Alfred Fontville de Bréanski as he is also known) frequently painted the mountainous landscapes of the Scottish Highlands, though his style was slightly less formal. De Breanski exhibited Highland landscapes at the Royal Academy in London, and with the Royal Society of British Artists at the Suffolk Street Gallery.
