A large fine 19th century oil on canvas depicting ‘The Heron Pool’ on the River Lledr in North Wales by the eminent Victorian artist Robert Gallon (1845-1925). The painting is signed by the artist and dated 1874. It hangs in a superb quality newly commissioned bespoke gold metal leaf swept frame. Alongside the Fairy Glen, the Heron Pool was one of the favourite spots in North Wales for many of the most important late Victorian landscape artists.

One of the finest late Victorian landscape painters, Robert Gallon’s skill and attention to detail is comparable to that of his contemporary Benjamin Williams Leader. Between 1868 to 1903 Robert Gallon exhibited 32 works at The Royal Academy and 27 at the British Institution in London.
