Scafell Pike from Wastwater - 19th Century English Mountain Landscape Oil Painting
This is a very large fine 19th century oil on canvas depicting a magnificent view of ‘Scafell Pike from Wastwater’ in the English Lake District by the renowned Victorian landscape painter Clarence Henry Roe (1850-1909). The painting is signed by the artist, and sold here in a newly commissioned fine quality gold metal leaf swept frame. Scafell Pike is England’s highest mountain.

Clarence Roe was the son of the popular artist Robert Henry Roe (1822-1905) and his two brothers Colin Graeme Roe and Robert Ernest Roe were also successful late 19th century artists. Clarence Henry Roe was a prolific painter of Scottish Highland loch scenes as well as English country landscapes.
