This is a large fine 19th century oil on canvas depicting a spectacular sunset over Caernarfon Bay in North West Wales by the listed Victorian landscape painter William Henry Vernon (1820-1909). ‘Sunset, Caernarfon Bay’ is signed by the artist and sold in a superb quality newly commissioned gold leaf frame.

As with all of the original antique oil paintings we sell it is offered in the finest condition it can be for its age, having just been cleaned and re-varnished. Clients should also note that fully insured, tracked and signed for international shipping is complimentary.

Birmingham artist William Henry Vernon painted many landscapes of the west of England but it was his vistas of North Wales that brought him most success. Between 1858 and 1892 Vernon exhibited at the Royal Academy, the British Institution and the Suffolk Street Gallery of the Royal Society of British Artists.
