A large fine 19th century Dutch winter scene of skaters on a frozen lake attributed to Jan Jacob Coenraad Spöhler (1837-1894). The painting is presented in a good quality vintage gold metal leaf frame.

Jan Jacob Coenraad Spohler was taught by his father, the eminent Dutch landscape painter Jan Jacob Spohler (1811-1866), and like him exceled as a painter of winter landscapes typically featuring figures wrapped up against the cold, skating and tobogganing on frozen lakes.
