‘A Quiet Nook on the Swale’ by Robert Gallon (1845-1925). The painting is signed by the artist and dated 1882, and hangs in a superb quality new commissioned gold metal leaf frame. This large English river landscape was shown at the Royal Society of British Artists Exhibition in London in 1882.

One of the finest late Victorian landscape painters, Robert Gallon’s ¼precision and attention to detail is comparable to that of his contemporary Benjamin Williams Leader. Between 1868 to 1903 Robert Gallon exhibited 32 works at The Royal Academy and 27 at the British Institution in London.
