Fishing in the Highlands - 19th Century Sporting Angling Oil Painting
This is a fine large 19th century landscape oil painting depicting an angler ‘Fishing in the Highlands’ of Scotland by the listed British landscape painter Charles Leaver Shaw (1853-1932). The painting is signed by the artist and hangs in a newly commissioned bespoke Baroque style giltwood swept frame of fine quality.
As with all of the original antique oil paintings we sell it is offered in the very finest condition it can be for its age having been newly professionally cleaned, restored and re-varnished.
Alongside artists such as Joseph Thors and David Bates, Shaw was a member of the late Birmingham School of Victorian landscape painters. Between 1884 and 1892 he exhibited at the Royal Academy in London, and at the Suffolk Street Gallery of the Society of British Artists.
