Children on the Common
This is a large fine 19th century summer landscape oil on canvas depicting two boys and a girl cooking up an outdoor supper by the celebrated Royal Academy artist George William Mote (1832-1909). ‘Children on the Common’ is signed by the artist’s monogram and presented in a fine quality newly commissioned giltwood swept frame.
As with all of the original antique oil paintings we sell it is offered in the very finest condition it can be for its age having been professionally cleaned and re-varnished.
Between 1857 and 1877 George William Mote exhibited 15 paintings at the Royal Academy, 18 works at the Suffolk Street Gallery of the Royal Society of British Artists, and 5 with the British Institution in London.
