This is a large fine 19th century summer landscape oil on canvas of depicting a man walking his dog on ‘A Fine Afternoon’ by the listed Victorian painter Charles Wilde (1855-1905). This beautiful and skilfully executed work is signed by the artist and hangs in a fine Louis XV style giltwood swept frame.
Charles Wilde studied with the eminent 19th century landscape artist Henry Dawson (1811-1878) and first began exhibiting in London and his native Nottingham around 1879. Wilde exhibited 113 paintings with the Nottingham Society of Artists, and showed at the Suffolk Street Gallery of the Royal Society of British Artists in London.
