This is a large fine original 19th century oil on canvas depicting a harem girl or odalisque reclining in an Oriental seraglio by an artist of the circle of the famous French painter Henri Adrien Tanoux (1865-1923). The painting hangs in a superb quality gadrooned neoclassical frame covered in gold metal leaf.
As with all of the original antique oil paintings we sell it is offered in excellent condition, having just been professionally cleaned and re-varnished.
Henri Adrien Tanoux studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Paris where he was a pupil of Léon Bonnat. He exhibited his works regularly at the Paris Salon, of which he became an Associate in 1905.
