On the Thames near Goring
This is a large fine 19th century summer landscape oil on canvas depicting two figures in a punt ‘On the Thames near Goring’ by the eminent Royal Academy artist Henry John Kinnaird (1862-1929). The painting is signed by the artist and presented in a fine quality newly commissioned Baroque style giltwood swept frame.
As with all of the original antique oil paintings we sell it is offered in the very finest condition it can be for its age having been professionally cleaned and re-varnished.
Henry John Kinnaird was an eminent and successful painter of English rural landscapes whom became most celebrated for his rich harvest scenes depicting the countryside around Surrey and Sussex. Between 1880 and 1891 Kinnaird exhibited 7 paintings at the Royal Academy, a further 7 times with the Royal Society of British Artists, and at the Royal Institute of Oil Painters in London.
